Toon owner to sit with away fans at derby
Newcastle's millionaire owner will join his club's fans in the away end at Sunderland tomorrow because he wants to wear his black and white shirt.
Click here Mike Ashley will forego the pleasures of the directors' box at the Stadium of Light and join the 3,000 travelling Newcastle fans, because he did not want to cause problems for the hosts by wearing his top among the red and white supporters.
Much has been made during the build-up to the Wear-Tyne derby as to whether Ashley would wear his black and white shirt, which has striker Alan Smith's name on the back, for the game.
The sports retail entrepreneur likes to show his affinity to the Newcastle fans by wearing the same replica shirts that helped make his fortune.
His Sunderland counterpart Niall Quinn said he did not mind what Ashley wore, but there were concerns from police and club officials that some supporters would find it an inflammatory gesture in a game which is one of British football's most passionate.
Newcastle chairman Chris Mort said today: 'Niall understands Mike wants to wear his black and white shirt for this game more than any other, but does not want to cause anyone at Sunderland any problems.
'As a result, Mike has decided to watch tomorrow's game with our fans behind the goal.'
Ashley was once thought of as a recluse, but since he bought the club he has repeatedly appeared in the directors' box wearing his team's kit.
Earlier this year he was initially refused entry to a Newcastle nightclub because he was wearing the black and white stripes, until a senior member of staff recognised the multi-millionaire and let him in.
He bought everyone in the club a drink and tipped the staff heavily.
The Blu Bambu club changed its policy, so now customers can wear football tops, as long as they can prove they own the club.
i was about to post it here ;D - tiyok-

Barton thought he was pla\ying boxing.... 1st half....good play by Owen and N'Zogbia.... Chopra was excellent. We shouldnt have sold him..Entertaining... But the possession of newcastle was worrying.

we only played batter in the last 30mins. milner's goal was a fluke i would say, and lucky chopra header crashed the bar. overall, not much improvement (it's sunderland, remember)..but we sometimes need those kind of luck. BS still tinkering his best XI..and I believe he has yet to find one..so, please be patience. i heard we are in for riquelme and russian captain (couldnt remember his name).

i didnt want to comment, but this game i was at LSB and absolutely got me livid. many many mistakes. 1. starting XI should include martins. 2. wrong substitutions(take out viduka!!!!!) 3. giving the fugly mackems too much space. 4. wtf is wrong with our communications at the back?? rmbr the mackems goal came from one of these errors. 5.BS is too defensive-minded in my opinion, his substitutions show at least that much. 6.we could have won this game and silence those bald portly mackems fans at LSB, instead we could not even spit in their faces, as much as we wanted to. (: ok that's abt it people. any comments?

frankly speaking, i was hoping sunderland would score first and i glad they did. reason why, cos we were too defensive until sunderland scored. its the typical game plan i have noticed recently. playing defensive and absorbing their attack. i knew a goal was coming for sunderland judging on the way we play. and i hoped it came earlier, for if it come late into e game, i dont think we could have stolen a point. we couldnt hold on to the ball and our passing was terrible and lack e creativity in the middle. set piece was terrible as well. sunderland defended well forour corners getting their heads to most of our crosses. so? we Need to play the ball to the feet! anyways a point is a greeat result for us considering its an away match and also its a derby. hoped we will improved tremendously in our next matches.

Poor Martins isn't in the starting XI again, could see his impact in the team had he been on earlier. Its finally a 4-4-2 for Newcastle and there seemed to be tt little bit of flow during our pathetic possession in the first half. Unbelievable eh, first time I see a possession of under 30% in a football match, tsktsk. Putting Alan Smith as a DM definitely worked to a certain extent. Barton failed to make any impact in the game, besides tt disgusting challenge just before half time which deserved a sending off actually. I hope BS tries to play the ball on the grd, the long ball tactic is horrendously ineffective for our team now. Its another individual piece of skill (wif tons of luck) tt got us our goal again.

i was hoping martins wld have come on earlier. overall, we almost got the axe. it is not the kind of football we were playing fluidly during the start of the season. i am beginning to have doubts on our defence once more. the same one hadn't been felt since bramble was still in a black n white shirt.
nonetheless, a draw is a draw. we are i would say rather fortunate to have bounced back from an unexpected goal from 'machine gun' milner

i must say im quite surprised at the reception harper got... is he a mackem old boy?
and barton's challenge really was disgusting... seemed to make a "racist" gesture (waving his hand across his nose, meaning kenwyne jones was "smelly") after that but i could be wrong.
other than that i thought it was a good performance and faye in particular was excellent

- Steve Harper got booed not because he was a mackem old boy..far from that actually, in fact..he got booed because he's Newcastle THROUGH AND THROUGH....Woo!!..haha even Steven Taylor got abit of ear-bashing from the Mackem Monkeys too
- Joey Barton's ridiculous tackle and nose antics was appreciated, laughed at and applauded by the Newcastle fans (at LSB at lest..haha!)..but i think he meant nothing of the racist sort..maybe just trying to imply that Sunderland were dirty ol' b*stards?haha...
